This was my second rock concert ever. No opening act. They did two sets. The first set was all of Dark Side of the Moon, which no one had ever heard; it would not be released for another five months. OMG! I remember hearing the opening sound effects for Money coming from the four corners of Winterland on the quad sound system. And the beautiful Us And Them, and the final crescendo of Eclipse. None other than Alan Parsons was touring as their house sound engineer! Their second set was One of These Days/Echoes/Careful With That Ax, Eugene/Set the Controls For The Heart of the Sun-during which Waters was banging on the large hanging gong maniacally, and then the frame around it burst into flames. You can see the gong on the cover of Umma Gumma. Unforgettable show. They did a short US tour they were obliged to do, and then returned to Abbey Road to finish working on Dark Side. See the comment below for more details on this show. (Corry Hanna)
