The Quarrymen performed at the opening night of this short lived club held in the basement of a large Victorian house at 25 Oakhill Park in the Broadgreen area of Liverpool. It was also at this club that George auditioned for the band playing "Guitar Boogie Shuffle". Lennon thought Harrison (then 14) was too young to join the band, so McCartney engineered another meeting on the upper deck of a Liverpool bus, where Harrison played "Raunchy" for Lennon.
The Morgue Cellar was run by Alan Caldwell singer with Al Caldwell’s Texans, who Ringo would join and make his first appearance with on March 25, 1959 at The Mardi Gras in Mount Pleasant. The group later changed their name to Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.

The Morgue was closed by police on 1 April 1958 and, despite efforts to continue it closed for good on 22 April.
Live music was held on Tuesday and Thursdays, and its possible the Quarrymen may have played other dates their.
