This website claims this show was "cancelled after promoter Barry Fey offered the Experience a ton of money to perform at the Denver Pop Festival that weekend". That is not true. A newspaper article from the Wichita Eagle has now been attached here which explains why the event was canceled. It had nothing to do with Barry Fey.
