Concerts Wiki

Berliner Zeitung review by Stefan Westerlund July 8, 1994

Imagine, three superstars give a concert and hardly anyone goes there. So happened on Wednesday in Berlin. At the "Italian Night", Eros Ramazotti, Luca Carboni and Jovanotti joined the ramp together. Each of the three fills stadiums in Italy. In Berlin, the Waldbühne was filled with 7 000 spectators, just under a third. What was it? The music was good, the weather even better .. But many of the mostly youthful fans have to face the rising ticket prices (this time around 70 marks). Not only in Berlin. All over Germany, concerts are being moved to smaller venues (ZZ Top) or canceled (Jean-Michel Jarre). The high prices have become a boomerang for the organizers. Back to the Waldbühne. Accompanied by an excellent, grooving band, rap star Jovanotti took full advantage of his innate advantage: rap in Italian sounds more erotic, jazzier than hard US slang. A singer with charisma: Jovanotti jumped across the stage, jumping into the crowd and mimicking the well-known "Say Ho" games with the fans - who joined in enthusiastically. A singer who cares about the words. Unlike his colleagues Carboni and Ramazotti, Jovanotti explained each of his songs in German. On record, the throaty voice of Luca Carboni sounds brilliant. Carboni tells bitter-sweet love stories that unfortunately fizzle on the stage powerless. Maybe it was the soulless band. Only at the end could Carboni rock out: "Ci voule un fisico bestiale" had the temperament that is generally attributed to Italians. The screeching of hundreds of teens announced the star of the night: Eros Ramazotti, the singer who no longer wants to be a teen star. Not for nothing did Ramazotti record his last album 'Tuttestorie' with Eric Clapton musicians. It can be heard: Ramazotti has a feeling for blues. But the fans still insistently demand the old hits. The guitarist of his band is allowed so only a short yowl of the strings, then Eros switches back to bedroom view. Two hours of cuddly ballads, cheers for "Adessu Tu" or "Se bastasse". Stefan Westerlund bedroom look and cuddly ballads: Eros Ramazotti still has to be gentle for his old fans.
