I got out of the army in the middle of August and after spending time in San Francisco I returned to my home in Detroit Michigan. I was attending MCCC and was getting into the hippie scene in Detroit. The Grande Ballroom was the place to go, at the time. The first time that I attended a concert was to see the Iron Butterfly with my friend Marvin Oulette. Their set ended with the first pyrotechniques in concerts, when the front of the stage burst into flames at the conclusion of "In the Gadda Da Vida."
